Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series, picks up with Harry entering his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After bearing witness to the return of the evil Lord Voldemort, he tries to convince his fellow students and the wizarding authorities of the impending threat. But, to his dismay, the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts’ new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Dolores Umbridge, played by Imelda Staunton, refuse to acknowledge the truth. Feeling frustrated and unheard, Harry takes matters into his own hands and forms the secret Dumbledore’s Army to teach his fellow students spells to defend themselves against the Dark Arts.
As Harry’s nightmares and visions become more vivid, he fears that Voldemort is using their connection to spy on his every move. Meanwhile, Hogwarts becomes a battleground as the Death Eaters, Voldemort’s followers, infiltrate the school and threaten the safety of the students. Harry, along with his loyal friends Ron and Hermione and members of the Order of the Phoenix, a group of wizards formed to fight against Voldemort, must work together to protect Hogwarts and the wizarding world from utter destruction.
The movie culminates in a high-stakes battle between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix at the Department of Mysteries. The fight sees a major character death and leaves Harry and his friends even more determined to take down Voldemort. Despite the obstacles and losses they face, the movie ends with Harry and his friends stronger than ever as they prepare for the ultimate showdown against Voldemort and his followers in the final movies of the series.
